2/19/2004 11:38:00 PM|||Andrew|||I read a really interesting, Biblical analysis of The Passion today that I would heartily recommend to everyone. Here are some bits I especially liked, but don't satisfy yourselves with that, go read the full post.
"And if we are moved to worship Him by these things, is this not idolatry? We are mixing faith with our own unbiblical assumptions, and I dare call this adultery."
"So how are we to remember our Lord then, you ask. I think He has given us quite enough to remember and worship Him. We will find Him in His Word, on which we meditate and on which we find our sustenance, and at His table, at which we celebrate His body, which is for us."
I must say, an very well written essay about The Passion. I've been somewhat ambivalent about the movie, not quite as excited as some, and this made me think a lot more about it before jumping onto the bandwagon. While I have no doubt that God will ultimately use The Passion to further his Kingdom, I think it's good to take this kind of steady look at what exactly Gibson is doing and whether the Church should be as utterly enthusiastic as it is.|||107726269414299432|||
