Yahoo dumps Google search technology

Apparently, Yahoo thinks it has a better option using its own search technology rather than Google's, and I see why. Let's face it: the days of the internet portal are over. I know people who use one or another of Yahoo's features, most notably the games or the email, but how many people actually still use Yahoo as their primary jumping off point into the internet anymore? I think that the average user is now savvy enough to understand that there are billions of sites out there, and everything that a conglomerate portal like Yahoo can do, a smaller, more focused site can do...better. When Yahoo originally moved to using Google's search technology, I think they did it because they realized that their searching, ahem, sucked. But Google has gotten so big in itself, offerring a multitude of services of its own, that my guess is Yahoo feels the need to distinguish itself from Google, to try to convince people that its search technology is better. And if they can, more power to them. A search engine war will only improve the technology more than it already is. But for now, here's to Google!|||107713774861174175|||
