The issue, as far as I can figure, goes like this: One of the guys there had his fiancee with him, and he was saying how she didn't like sitting next to him in his truck. For those of you who might not understand this phenomenon (which I've been told is a bigger thing in the south and in Texas than elsewhere), it works like this. There's just one seat cushion going all the way across the front of the truck, much like the back seat of most cars. Like the back seat, there are three seatbelt areas, one on each side and one in the middle.
So the question was, should a girl cuddle up next to her guy and sit in the middle seat? Discussion varied, with every guy there (myself included) declaring that he would want his girlfriend (and even more so his fiancee or wife!) to sit closer to him. The girls there were somewhat more divided. The one who started off this whole deal said she thought it looked kind of "trashy," and another said it was silly looking. At least one girl there told us (as the others left) that she agreed though.
It was probably one of the more amusing discussions I've had in some time, and it got me thinking (and talking) about some interesting issues, such as intimacy, closeness, emotional responsiveness, and the attitudes of women (in general) in our age.|||107842826192320837|||
