Apparently I'm doing things exactly a day later this week than I did last week. Anyway, here's a poem I wrote quite some time ago that I'd like to highlight today. It was written at a time when I was incredibly emotional, and think that shows through. It probably remains one of my favorite (not to say good) poems that I've written.
strawberry trees
I want to sit
in the shade of strawberry trees
and cry
I want to walk
under a lime-colored moon
and weep
I want to go
among rose-scented olive groves
and grieve
but I cannot sit
I cannot walk
I cannot go
out from among the faceless masses
their mindless steps constrain me
and I cannot cry
I cannot weep
I cannot grieve
openly in front of nameless masses
their mindless thoughts constrain me
three dreams dreamed
three dreams denied
from within the crowds
I can only imagine
sitting
crying
walking
weeping
going
grieving
in my mind's eye
even as I watch,
taunting me on the horizon,
strawberry trees swaying gently in the wind|||10784284541160913|||
